Boys Camp is full of tradition and characterized by enthusiasm. Each morning begins with the cabin report ("All present and accounted for, sir!"), flag raising and calisthenics. Breakfast starts with a reading from God's Word and ends with a presentation of the coveted Table Award. Morning and evening chapel services feature a special speaker and a chance to praise God at the top of your lungs. Bible lessons are designed to meet the needs and interests of young men, with titles like Battles of the Bible and Becoming a Man of God. Morning and afternoon activities include basketball, riflery, archery, mountain biking and waterskiing, to name a few. During freetime, boys campers love to play tetherball or fussball, go for a swim in the lake, go kayaking or sailing, or take a break at the Trading Post. After dinner, it's time for All Camp Activity. Capture the Flag is the all-time favorite. The high point of the week is the overnight, when boys go for a hike, camp out in tents and cook over the fire. The older boys of Sioux take a canoe trip on the AuTrain River. Outstanding graduates of Boys Camp are recommended by counselors to participate in the Isle Royale Backpacking Trip.
Boys Camp is popular. Because this camp is in high demand, it is a good idea to mail registrations on April 1. (Registration forms with postmark dates before April 1 cannot be accepted.) |
