Frequently Asked Questions
About the Retreat Center Campaign

If you have questions about the campaign please email them to Bruce Black and Steve Dale.

1. Where is the retreat center going to be located?
The Retreat Center will be in the wooded area half way between Eagles Nest and
the BEAR Camp location.

2. How long has Camp felt God's leading in this direction?
In December of 2000 the Board voted to pursue the Lord's will concerning a Year-
round Retreat facility.

3. What is the response of people in the U.P.? Is there a need/desire for UP
groups to come?
Yes, there have been a number of churches in the UP that have indicated an
interest. This will also be available to all the people that UPBC ministers to during
all four seasons.

4. What programs do you intend to conduct?
There are many opportunities for programming. The Retreat Center can be used
for the development of local ministries, UPBC-planned retreats for outreach and
building up churches, and for hosting groups with their own program. Some
possible retreats are Pastors Conferences, Marriage Seminars, Church Youth
Groups, Outdoor Education for Public/Private School Groups, Sports & Activity-
based Outreach, Expanded Kids Camps, Additional Trail Camps, Seasonal
Retreats, Adventure Course Day- Retreats, and Men’s and Women’s Retreats.

Other Camps like Bair Lake Bible Camp have developed “Signature Retreats”
like “Purity and Holiness.” U.P.-wide events like this are also a possibility in
exposing people to Jesus Christ and encouraging them to be more like Him

5. Is this for adults or kids?
Both!

6. How many beds are in Phase 4?
Phase four will house 40 people.

7. Who will operate the retreat center & programs? Do you plan to hire someone
to get the work done?
UPBC strongly believes in volunteerism. The Trustees have been praying diligently
about how to proceed in this sensitive area. We believe God will provide the right
people and the means for their support.

8. How much money is in the retreat center fund right now?
That amount is growing but is currently (July '06) about 10% of phase one.

9. Who is being informed of this campaign? How are you informing people?
We are informing everyone who has ever been to camp. If you have someone's name
to be put on the list, please let us know. We are currently using mailings, video and
informational meetings to spread the word.

10. What is your time frame for building - do you have any scheduled plans to begin
construction?
Construction will not begin until $900,000 is in the bank (75% of Phase I).
Based on this we believe God will provide when He wants the building to begin.

11. What is going to happen to the woods near the soccer field?
Some of the woods will be taken out to allow for the building.

12. What's going to happen to summer Camps like JV Camp?
The summer program will continue as we know it today.

13. Can our church bring groups to Camp? Does there need to be a minimum
number of people who come?
Yes your church can bring groups to UPBC. The retreat center will be able to
handle many different size groups.
